Thread: Suggestions for 1.3g cakes

    Default Suggestions for 1.3g cakes

I'm looking for suggestions for some cakes to try out, Attending Winter Blast in 3 weeks and am looking for cakes with Whistle, Crackle and/or Salutes. There are a couple 100 shot ones that go off in 2 seconds but want some that go a lot longer.
Any suggestions/ Brand names and I'll see if they are on the list?
Want longer duration in the minute range or longer there are some cakes with 300-600 shots on the list.

    Thanks

I like: 3-FX016 - 100 shot Fan Whirl Salute w Green Strobe from Pyro Formex. This cake really kicks A$$ & the salutes are very loud, I would assume Xtra heavy flash. I may have a Wayne's World demo video if you want me to look for it.

Someone lit an Operation Thunder at the PGI last year. It was nice.

HQ06-2, 120 shot Lightning Rod from Lynch Imports are good shot in pairs or more. It's silver tailed loud whistles to salute with long duration. This video is on their 2009 demo DVD.

    So far I haven't found Nelson's 2009 1.3 DVD.

The A.L.F 2" salute box is my favorite finale cake to use for smaller displays, it honestly is the s**t

The whistles are more of a howling sound in my opinion but none the less, great noise making cake

strobes, your right. Subconsciously I always knew there was a difference between whistle & howling but never realized the difference in their description until you pointed it out!
I love both sounds when there are many going off at the same time.

I start some of my 1.3 finales with 2 - 300 or 600 shot whistle cakes about 100' apart. I let them go first in the finale by themselves for about half their duration and then I shoot tons of ring shells or crackle shells while the 2 cakes continue. When the cakes peter out I start shooting many different size shells with tails. Then I, well you get the picture.
    Thanks

Well probably would be able to afford a good one till then. I thought it was 18 in the good old Missoura. Will I see some at St. Louis Shoot or MoPyro you think? And with no limits on comp does that mean that someone could make like a 2,000 shot zipper?

I like Thunder Kings and Battle of Colors myself. Avail in 25 shot and up. Both very potent. Just my 2 cents.

Be very carefull of some of those high shot count cakes, when I started buying B cakes I fell for them and found that most SUCK.

I was part of cake-o-thon crews at WWB 18 & 19 and got many of my cakes from Flying Phoenix. Most of the REAL good ones coast mucho deniro.

I have not looked a Jim & Glens list from FP for WWB yet but I have shot all the following cakes and think they are all worth getting again.

150sh 5 times quick brocade crown tail **
150sh times quick brocade crown tail to long duration brocade crown crossette **
    130sh fan shaped - brocade waterfall **
    70sh silver brocade tail
    skies over baghdad **
    600 sh silvery swallow
    300 sh ti salute
70 sh fan shaped - sil. coco tree & grn. flash mines
80 sh "Z" shaped - color flower tail to crackling
80 sh "Z" shaped - silver crown horse tail w/ red tail
    130 sh Fan crackle mines
    Fan Shaped Brocade Crossette
Z shaped orage to sea blue crossette
    Z shaped RWB Chrys
    100 sh. Pink/Lemon Peony
    100 sh. Blue Chrys.
    100 sh. Z shaped Lemon/purple tail
    36 sh. 2.5 inch Ring w/crossette mine
100 shot Brocade with Blue tail fan
    25 shot Golden Rain
36 shot 2.5 inch Assorted Rings with Crossette Mines

All of those cakes Leeca has mentioned are really nice. We had good luck mixing the slow moving Z cakes with some of the vertically fired cakes like the Blue Chrys. or Pink/lemon peony.

Pep, you might want to try line item 652 on the list. Shimmering, crackling gold has some nice little salutes and great crackle and shimmer. No whistles though. Not sure what you might find in a whistle cake? Cant remember if line item 585/586 silvery swallow whistles or not? Lots of great cakes on this list. 581, homeland waltz and 582, Witchcraft room are good breaking cakes as well.
