If you have read some of the articles on this site (firing systems, electrical igniters), you might know that if you use electrical firing systems, it is much, much cheaper to make your own electrical igniters than to buy them.

Listed below are some suggested high resistance wires for use in making your own igniters. As a rule of thumb, all "igniter wires" should have a resistance of 650-875 (higher is better) ohms/cmf and have a melting point 1100-1500° C.

EvanOhm

75% Nickel, 20% Chrome, 2.5% Aluminum, 1.7% Copper.
800 ohms/cmf, 1400C melt point.
Also called Alloy 800, Stablohm 800, Nikrothal LX, Chromel R, Karma, Evanohm, Evenohm, Evanohm R, Evenohm R, HAI-431, Moleculoy, 800 Alloy.

NiCr 80

80% Nickel, 20% Chrome.
650 ohms/cmf, 1200C melt point.
Also called Chromel A, Nikrothal 80, N8, Nichrome V, HAI-NiCr 80, Tophet A, Resistohm 80, Cronix 80, Protoloy, Nikrothal 8, Alloy A, MWS-650, Stablohm 650, 

NiCr 60

60% Nickel, 16% Chrome, 24% Iron
675 ohms/cmf, 1390C melt point.
Also called Chromel C, Nikrothal 60, N6, HAI-NiCr 60, Tophet C, Resistohm 60, Cronifer II, Electroloy, Nichrome, Alloy C, Nikrothal 6, MWS-675, Stablohm 675

Alloy 815

22% Chrome, 73.2% Iron, 4.8% Aluminum
815 ohms/cmf 1500C melt point.
Also called Kanthal D, Kanthal, Alloy 815, Alchrome DK, Alferon 901, Resistohm 135, Aluchrom 5, Stablohm 812

Alloy 837

22% Chrome, 72.7% Iron, 5.3% Aluminum
836 ohms/cmf, 1500C melt point.

Alloy 875

22% Chrome, 72.2% Iron, 5.8% Aluminum
875 ohms/cmf 1500C melt point.
