I'm happy to announce that the new Pyro Universe vBulletin forum is finally up and running! You can check it out here:
http://www.pyrouniverse.com/forum
Please be sure to completely read through the vBulletin FAQ (on the upper menu bar) to get a good understanding of how the forum works.
Also make sure to read the welcome thread in the "Announcements" section to learn about the new features of the forum.
Enjoy!

In new forum, it seems that we should register again, right? It will give some problems. For example, the same name in old forum and new forum, it may be two people!!!!!! _________________ Nice to know fireworks enthusiast.Welome to fireworks hometown---Liuyang,China.You will see a lot of fireworks. |

I guess that is kind of unavoidable, especially when changing between software systems.
What is the reason for the change? I assume there are software improvements, but anything specific that swayed you, or something annoying about this system? (it seems to work fairly well).
Will this forum remain online, just locked with a link to the new one? It would be a shame if this got deleted and all the great/useful posts were lost. |

Q..Can we convert phpbb to Vbulletin ?
A..There is an impoter avaible for phpbb 2.0.6 to vBulletin 3.0.1. you can import your posts threads members and forums from phpbb
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=105561
You should be able to convert the whole thing right? _________________ Got Beihai?

While this forum has worked quite well, I wanted vBulletin for several reasons. First, it's more secure. There are a number of security holes in phpBB, one of which somebody used to hack the very first version of the PyroU board on my old host. It's much harder to do that with vbulletin.
The new forum also has a LOT more administrator options ("behind the scenes" things that users don't see), which I really like. It will help to keep things running smoothly around here, especially during the craziness of the fireworks season. Also, it can support attachments, which is a feature I think everyone will like.
This forum WILL stick around. As I mentioned on the new forum, this one will stay open for some time, and then eventually the individual boards will be locked. No new posts will be able to be made, but every old post will still be here. The search function can still be used as well, so it can be searched like an archive.
The edit button on the new forums SHOULD be visible in the lower right hand side of the post you made. |

Nice setup. Do I need to register for that forum as well, or can my username from here be transfered?
Thanks! _________________ My Mini Mortar! |

I didn't learn about impex until after I had the new forums completely set up. Since the new forum had a new board arrangement and all of the permissions there were customized differently than they were on here, I didn't want to mess around with it afterwards.
I've been getting a lot of PMs and emails about the new board, asking me if you have to sign up again, if this board will be deleted, etc. Please be sure to read the welcome thread in the new forum, which I've linked to in the first post of this thread - I posted it there in advance, and it will address all of those questions. |
