Great Lakes Area Spring Shoot When: May 22nd – May 23rd (Memorial Day Weekend) Where: Hog Hill in Hamilton, IN Who can shoot: Open to Pyro U Members only After months and months of planning we are excited to announce the Great Lakes Area Spring Shoot. The shoot location is at the beautiful 60 acre Hog Hill Park in Hamilton, IN which is located approximately 10 Miles from Johnny Lemas and Big Fireworks. This will be an insured shoot site and we will be allowing 1.4g as well as 1.3g fireworks. We will be providing demos on Friday evening as well as starting our show prep for Saturday. On Saturday we will have individual displays first followed by a huge Group Display. There will also be a Cake Raffle as well as other exciting events for those attending. If you are interested in doing an individual display please send a PM to either Big No No or QMAN. Space and time are limited so don’t wait until the last minute. The deadline for display entries is May 1st. If you are interested in providing fireworks for the large group display on Saturday please contact St1dinoh, Sparky, or QMAN. We are also looking for volunteers to help with show prep as well as cleanup on Sunday morning. If you are interested in helping please give QMAN a PM. If there are any vendors interested in demoing some product Friday evening and or donating to the group shoot please contact Big No No by no later then May 1st. All 1.3g shooters must be experienced with 1.3g and be approved by our 1.3g Coordinator, Shooting Star Pyro. All shooters approved for 1.3g are responsible for the legal transport and handling of their product and GLASS will assume no responsibility for failure to do so. Those that wish to only come and watch are also welcome. And please feel free to bring friends and family. However, only approved persons will be permitted to enter secured firing and setup areas. If you do plan on attending please contact me so we may get a proper head count. If you have any questions please send me a PM. Thanks, QMAN

Is all 1.3 product expected to have an EX #?
And what is the site like as far as size restrictions? I can assume 6" max.

I am absolutely ecstatic about this event. It has been coming for a long time with an outstanding collaboration of some of the best guys I have ever had privilege of joining with. I cannot wait until the time comes to light up the sky. Thank you to all of you that have put so much time and effort into making this happen.

as of right now, we don't know for sure. the walk through/site measure is being done this week and we'll know more about that then. rest assured we are going to shoot anything the site allows, but we will be sticking strictly to proper distances. if the shoot only lets us send up 10's i can live without a 12 ![]() the site is 60 acres, so there is a good chance we will be able to send up good sized 1.3, but i don't dare say anything untill the measure wheel has been deployed and we know exactly what we are dealing with. expect this thread to be updated often with all the appropriate info.

I have had a couple people contact me about hotel arrangements. I spoke with the Ramada Inn in Angola, IN which would be the closest decent hotel. Their best price they could give me even if I got a block of rooms I said 10 or more was $65.00 per night plus taxes. If you get on either Orbitz or Hotels.com you can get a room for $63 a night plus taxes. Just thought I would pass that along to you guys coming in from out of town.

I will make some phone calls I just finished a hotel in Auburn right in front of the Home Depot. I will call the owner (Andy) and see what he will do for us.

They do allow some camping there. One of us will try to get a little more detail about the camping arrangements there. I will post more detail as soon as its available.

We will be doing a final walk through of the site to determine exact distances to buildings and new pavilions that they have built but we look to have around 1000-1200 feet of clearance. We will post exact measurements and shooting capacities when the numbers are finalized. |

On the distance are you planning the NFPA or PGI table? For those that dont know NFPA suggest 70' per inch of shell diameter as a a setback for the public. PGI ask for 100' per inch. Guess it doesnt really matter as the biggest I can afford (to purchase) is a 10" and if you can get that 1000' im covered either way. RK

Safety is a our highest priority and we want everything to go as smoothly as possible. In my experience, I have always used the PGI distances because I like having that extra "cushion" and space is always a pryo's friend.
We will strive to keep the 100 foot per inch rule in play but know that we have a little wiggle room back if needed- but at this time, we will stick with 100' per 1". |

QMAN, I don't know if this was thought of, but there is a guy that I rent Moon Bounces, inflatable slides, sno-cone machines, etc. for my 4th of July event at my place for the kids. I'm not talking the stuff from Sam's Club or Wal-Mart, I mean the big fair and carnival sized stuff, and he'll do it reasonably. It's just an idea...let me know if interested. I'm in for the GLASS shoot. It's about time something like this got going in this region. Can't wait!! ![]()

there's a small amusement park nearby. there's a state park nearby. if you're coming to see the show, bring the kids, you'll find plenty to do with them during the day within a 20-30 minute drive. then maybe pack a picnic dinner or head to a resteraunt and bring 'em for the show.

Camping and RVing possibly right at Hog Hill. We will be checking into the availability (are they open for campers/RVs) on the days we have the shoot.
