Guys, we have some exciting news about the shoot this year! We have been working hard since last year on several thing's to improve the shoot.
We have another new shoot site nailed down, since we have outgrown ourselves each year. We will be shooting in a 50 acre, private park only about 30 minutes from downtown St. Louis, easily accessed right off a major highway. We have a pavilion reserved for our group that seats 250 people, BBQ pits included. On-site restrooms. On-site camping will be allowed for shooters and families. On-site bar and grill Walking distance to convenient mart gas station. Within 10 minutes to multiple hotels, shopping and dining. We have been asked to shoot for an existing fund raiser for K-9 dogs, the fund raiser will include a classic car show, WWII equipment (you can ride in a WWII jeep) There will be a huge BBQ going all weekend, and of course...you get to see police dogs in action. Between these activities and the close proximity to St Louis and all it's attractions, it should be a great weekend trip for out of towners! We are also very proud to be able to offer a fully insured, permitted shoot this year. Why is this important....because with all the demands to add 1.3 to the annual shoot we have stepped up to the plate! I will be meeting with the AHJ in the coming days to get clearance on shell sizes, we should have no problem shooting 10" shells at this new site. Marty Gillette has agreed to choreograph a Fire One Pyromusical to cap off the weekend festivities, I for one am looking forward to working at his side and absorbing a fraction of his pyro knowledge. We currently see the agenda going as follows. Friday night, 1.4 shooting.....whatever you guys want to do just lemme know. Saturday, we will have time for 1.4 boards like last year, a group e fired 1.4 show, 1.3 and the Fire One Pyromusical finale. Anyone wanting to shoot a 1.4 or 1.3 show on your own we will have the space and time, but you have to let me know ahead of time so we do not get into an over scheduling issue and run out of time, I want to see everything that is brought to St Louis in the sky! There is so much to say I could ramble on but this should get it started, I will try to get pics of the shoot site, this really is THE perfect place for our event! As always I will do my best to answer any questions and please share any thoughts you may have that will make this a better event for YOU! There are a lot of people accepting responsibility to put this together this year and as we go on they will be stepping up here to answer questions pertaining to their perspective volunteer positions.

Hey Ed,
Any chance we can do any vending to help cover costs? I have great recipes for BBQ and Tavern sandwiches if we can sell. Some proceeds to the K-9s might help get it approved? Might have to deal with county health serving food. Which reminds me, is this in Jeff county or St. Louis County? If we are in STLC, one more permit will be needed from STLC public works if the park is not in an incorporated jurisdiction. Not a big deal, just $71.00 for 1 permit for the 3 days.

Thanks shrapnel for working hard on getting a new site to help accommodate this ever-growing event.
We have talked about several things (as shrapnel alluded to) that we want to try to handle better and coordinate earlier. More announcements to follow. I guess the first thing is to get a sense of how many people are planning on coming, what you want to do, etc. Once people start chiming in, we can get a better feel for organizing this thing.

Marty, we are open to fund raising ideas to offset costs, having event t-shirts made was also mentioned, we WILL keep this cost free for the shooter's. The only cost involved is going to be the insurance policy and we are looking at sponsors to help with that. The $100.00 permit fee has been taken care of.
We are in Jeff. County although...a short walk and an even shorter swim would put you in Stl County. Z we really appreciate it and you guys make sure to do the same!

Speedy, we will have a person appointed to:
1.4 shooting 1.4 group choreography and show 1.3 shooting 1.3 group choreography and show safety security The FD has agreed to help with security and will be placing a pumper truck and several men on-site at the do not cross line, but we can never have too many eyes watching for renegades. I know I can't cover everything so please let me know if something is missing.

Don't forget the photos when you go to the site today.
Is there going to be any cutoff time for shooting, or are we gonna have a pyro all-nighter? Let me know what you want me to do--I'm up for just about anything.

I have checked with the boss and at the moment, I've been cleared to work/assist with this event! Shrap, please let me know how I can assist in ensuring that this event is successful.
My apologies to the TOTP folks as I cannot afford to do both this event and the TOTP event.

Looks like I am definatly going to have to try to make it out this year...Last year I had a shoot going on the same time...Don't know if I'll be able to contribute at all, besides maybe some grunt work, and rooting on any fellow pyros and maybe acually watching some fireworks for a change...

Update,
On Thursday the 17th, Shrap and I met with the Fire Marshall. We discussed the pryo activities planned so far for the weekend. He is waiving the permit fees since it is a charity fund raiser ![]() ![]() For the permit, I will have to supply a list to the FM of any and all of the 1.3g for the Saturday nite display. Regardless if you bring 1.3g for the display or just to demo shoot it, it will have to be on the list given to the FM in advance. If it isn't on the list, it can't be shot. I will get a definite cut off date but I know the list can be added to up to at least a week before the event. On Saturday afternoon he said he wants periodic test shots up to a 1/2 hour before the show to keep track of the winds aloft. Gee, I think we can comply ![]() For the Sat.display I will be looking for donations of consumer cakes, especially Z, fan and angle style. The plan is to use 1.4g items in the fore most front row of up to 5 or 9 positions. If you would like to donate 1.4 product for the show, let me know the quantity and name of the devices, a link to a demo video would help. Bill Corbett, I will be talking to the ins folks Monday, I need to know what flame effects and quantity you plan to perform to get them specifically allowed. Thanks all, It's only April and I'm getting stoked about this event ![]() Marty |

I can only imagine the fireball show we might get to see between Bill and Noel!
![]() Also, I have some pretty sweet cremora pots I have access to, they are used water pressure tanks cut to about 5gl bucket size, bottom already concave so no bowl to mess with. I think they hold around 15gl of liquid or powder...one hella fireball, If you guys are interested lemme know. I also have a few lbs of BP to donate.

What time does the shooting need to end? If there is a 1.3 finale, some 1.3 shooting on Saturday, plus group 1.4 show and boards, will we be able to do all of that on Saturday night?
I know open 1.4 shooting will be Friday night, and perhaps some of the boards/shows might need to go there. I think we will also have several demos, so those might need to be Friday night as well. I'm right with ya, Marty, it's five months out but some serious stoking going on!
