No, but I would think that if you removed one side of the clip and had the wire exposed to the powder it would go FAST!!!!

...or just clip it to the blackmatch - a piece of electrical tape can be added too if you want from one side of the clip to the other to secure the connection.

I am just posting to tell you how pleased i am with these igniters. Being a hobby pyro i had gone through all the experiments for a cheap reliable igniter. I first started off with the christmas light bulb and matchhead technique, that was a lot of work and was hoplessly unreliable. same with the nichrome wrapped igniters. being in the uk, i can buy proffessional igniters without a licence, but trying to light visco fuse with these are tedious and not very reliable, let alone the cost of the ematches and insured shipping, so i had to find a new reliable igniter. I searched around this website and when i found these and read the reviews they have been given, i had to give them a try. So i spoke to ken who was a very nice man to deal with about shipping to the uk and ordered 50 igniters. They arrived wihin 3-4 days and have gone through tests and all 30 that i have fired so far have not let me down, even in the rain. So thanks Ken for this brilliant product and I will certianly be ordering more in the future!!!

I've used approximately 300 of them. I test them with my e-match tester before using them. Just like commerial e-match there were a couple bad ones, but in the field, I've not had ONE failure. I've been able to fire 5 in parallel with no failures. These are a GREAT consumer e-match.

Anyone tried these on a "pro" system? meaning one that fires off std Telco 25pair cable 24ga wire? I run 24V, and I think the .5a blow current sounds about right and is higher than the legally required current. But I also do not want to blow a feeder cable out.

I know using pro match I can pop 9 at once, but my firend with the type54 moved away so I have to find another source for ignitors.

Any idea how these compare load wise to commercial ematch?

I am buying my first firing system. I decided to skip the wired system and go strait to wireless and have more or less decided on the Phoenix MR12. My first shoot will be on three john boats on a two and a half acre lake. I know big ambitions, but I have until memorial day to get my act together. I hope I get it right. One thing I don't understand is the difference between the M-1, M-2, and the M-3 igniters and the appropriate use for each and how to tell the deference.
Oh one last thing UncSam how about streaching that 20% on the MR12 to the end of November

Just joking.

M-1 = 1 meter leads (3ft total length)
M-2 = 2 meter leads (6ft total length)
m-3 = 3 meter leads (9ft total length)

these require about 2amps of current to work correctly, I have seen up to 4 used in parallel on a Pyromate 45 system without issue, with series you are increasing you resistive load in ohms and can overload the circuit relatively quickly.e-matches are less than half the load as these.

Slip a piece of quick match over the visco leader and tape it to the cake, then insert e-match into the quick match and tape that also.

I just purchased the Phoenix 6 que multi receiver firing system from you. What I intend to use it for is a campfire lighting ceremony (the YMCA Guides/princesses program). Black powder is used to ignite the campfire as is by 'magic.' We currently use a wired trigger, but this wireless trigger system seems like a much easier set up and arguably more reliable/safer.

My only concern (being a novice to these sorts of things -- hence the 'tyco') is over accidental early set-off by some other device. I assume that the signal from the remote to the receiver is encrypted, but is there any way a garage remote could trigger it?

I have used wireless many of times threw out the last several years and have never had something go off that shouldnt have because of garage remotes for example.
The chance of a garage remote setting it off is very very slim.

Sorry for the delayed answer, I haven't had the time to get on the forum lately.

I don't see a problem as there are at least a million iterations of the coding on the 315MHz frequency that are programmed by the factory.
To use your comparison, it would be about as likely that you could drive around in neighborhood after neighborhood with a garage door opener trying to open garage doors...
Short answer: Not impossible but also not likely.

Another very satisfied customer. I ordered 100 igniters for a show I put together for Christmas. I'm pretty sure my order shipped the day I placed it because it came FAST.

I just popped the first one on 100ft of 22awg cable witha double ground back off of a 18volt cordless drill battery...It was instant ignition. I'm excited to see how it does at 200ft, and see how many I can fire at a time, but it's dark out, and it will have to wait another day.
