Here's a Strange One

Just when I thought I had seen everything the CBS evening news does a story on a man with an obsession for ANVILS!
Shows his shop and his collection even footage of him making small wooden models.
Then we move on to "Shooting Anvils"!! Seems we have a long history of this hobby in the U.S.A. I will not describe this hobby, those interested can do a search and I am sure you will find it.
Just cant wait til the CPSC and NFPA get wind of this one

Soon, anvils will be regulated as well. You'll need a permit for one!! Consumer anvils, and display anvils, multishot anvils, crackling anvils will all hit the market, maybe a group buy in the future

i wonder if you will be limited to how many pounds of anvil you can buy per year

Guys,

Shooting anvils has been an activity that has been around in this country since anvils were widely used (1800's or before). They even do this at some pyro clubs. CPSC has nothing to do with it since it's not a consumer product in its explosive form and it would likely be protected from ATF regulation as a historical reenactment or recreational use like cannon shooting and other Black Powder arms used in recreation.

If you look through the full PGI safety pamphlet you will find setbacks for anvil shooting.

What are the transportation restrictions on anvils? Do you need a permit, or can you just throw it in the back or your truck and hope for the best?

Since this is in the safety forum, one has to ponder, other than safety glasses and an umbrella (as in Wile E. Coyote's Acme heavy-duty style), what other safety equipment is required? A flashing "Moron at Work" sign??
