I dont know, maybe its just me - but we do know this is for a TV show being produced. There are multiple camera angles, and lots of cut aways and editing involved in this video. I would likely think that there are emergency vehicles (fire dept.) and professional pyros (1.3 licensed) on hand, and just edited out, or off camera through editing. I cannot legitemately believe any company putting this together for a tv show would do so without proper insurance and safety, let alone the problems this would cause with his team and coaching staff. Just my two cents

I like the positive thinking and hope that it is true, but like Ron White says, "You can't fix stupid." and this looks like a big ole Capital "S" tupid.

True - it is stupid and shows a strong lack of smarts. But this clip has done exactly what they were hoping it would do. Its all over the place and has hyped alot of networks to buy the show. Im just thinking, theres more than meets the eye here - it is wishfully thinking, that they actually gave a sh*t about safety (off camera) and just made it look like "Jack Ass"

I seriously doubt a professional company would light 1.75 inch aerial salutes and 3 inch shells on the ground like that. Especially if the insurance company catches wind of it.

Editing - just a thought. - the burst of the 2" (or 1.75) salutes, is edited after they run. And 3" ground salutes are shot all the time by legit 1.3 techs......again, this all is crazy and stupid, i am not denying that. Just saying, as someone who has been in and knows of the industry - lots of things are trickery on the tv screen

You can quite clearly see in the video there are whole lines of fibreglass mortars set up in racks. The firing crew have ear defenders and safety glasses on. The setup looks quite large and no-where in the video did we see them installing the racks and loading the shells. There is obviously a lot of staging that was performed to make the final video. As for setting off the salutes on the ground, you can do anything you want if the proper safety procedures are in place and it's not clear at all in the video that those salutes were in any place to cause danger. Remember celebs crave media exposure and this video was obviously designed to pander to that craving. True, it implied a lot of stupidity, but I'm convinced it wasn't anything like as random as it seemed.

but the real piece of sh*t in this story is the guy selling the NBA star the illegal 1.3 product.

i don't care if you don't like what i'm about to say, so if you don't agree don't waste your breath cause i don't much care...

the bootlegger selling this stuff is the guy who needs to be shut down, and the guy who should be thrown into a jail cell.

yes, the illegal show fired by the NBA star and his buddies could have hurt someone and could have been bad for the industry, but the real question is how in the hell did this guy get his hands on 1.3 product to begin with.

would we be having this same conversation if this NBA player was simply lighting a bunch of 1.4 stuff (still illegal in MI)?

    hell no.

most of the members here have shot 1.4 in a state where they shouldn't have, so that would make all of you (myself included) massive hypocrites. the reason everyone is freaking out is because these idiots were being idiots with 6 inch shells and salutes.

the guy who took 10 grand cash in exchange for multiple 1.3 shells and the guns to shoot them with is a real assh*le IMO. people like this don't care what happens to the product after it's been converted to cash. the people shooting that show, including mr NBA star, could have died because this guy sold sh*t he shouldn't have to someone who had no business buying it.

just doing the simple math here, i'd bet the person in that video (the seller) is at least a lurker here on pyro U...

if you are the "dude" in the video who sold the 1.3 to this guy you should be ashamed of yourself. you traded cash for the possibility of people who don't know any better getting seriously injured or killed. there were kid's in attendance at that show, if you are reading this (which i'd bet you are) ask yourself how big of a c*cksucker you'd be if what you sold an untrained person would have killed a 5 year old girl...

people like the person who sold this stuff are the real problem. 1.4, when used properly, is safe for the untrained person to use. 1.3, when used properly, is still rather dangerous to the trained shooter to be hand lighting (muzzle breaks, low breaks, flower pots, hang fires, etc).

the person who sold this stuff unleashed a potentially deadly situation upon this NBA guy and all his friends and family out of pure GREED and SELFISHNESS.

anyone who enjoys fireworks as a hobby, art, recreation, or business should recognize that the real enemy are the people that sell shit like this to people who have no business possessing it.

these people are the real enemy to all of us, not the moron shooting the stuff and posting it on youtube.

abuse 1.4, sure it's the idiot shooting it. allow someone to abuse 1.3 in the name of cash, and i blame the moron who provided it.

I disagree. No one should have 1.3 if they DON'T have the proper autherization.

Reminds me of that 1 family guy. Stewie is watching a movie called Bewitched. A guy is dancing with a witch and she says I'm a witch. Hey says I'm a clipper's fan. Everyone in the theater laughs except for him.
