I would like to find 2 “Groups” of items – Quiet Stuff and Purple Stuff
I have culled through the forums for items (but wasn’t bright enough to save URL’s) and this is what I have found. I tend be a little OCD, so I copy/pasted stuff, then tried to pull it together into some sort of consistent order. One exception to this rule will be pretty clear as it was well laid out by the original poster, so I may use that format in the future
If folks could add any information they may have, I would greatly appreciate it, ESPECIALLY adding manufactures where there are question marks after a product name. I will also be re-reviewing the sticky “effects” threads above to flesh this out. Any help there would be much appreciated.
Mostly this is for my own purchasing decisions, but it seems like others could find it useful as well. I am often around critters (from rabbit to cattle sized) so keeping the noise down is “Good Neighbor” effort on my part. I would expect that there are others in this situation.
One question – Does Patriotic Fireworks manufacture and distribute their own product like Phantom?
The ultimate prize here is to find quiet purple stuff, so if anyone could tell me if “this quiet thing is purple” or “this purple thing is quiet” it would be much obliged.
I intend to set up a spreadsheet that will have the following:
Item Name
Manufacture
Type
Effect
Performance (possibly combine these two?)
Purple – True/False
Quite – True/False
Any comments about layout/formatting are welcome. I will also export this as a PDF for usefulness as some folks may or may not use spreadsheets.
I will be attempting to update this regularly.

I'd recommend going over to Pyro Review and checking out the gallery and doing a few searches there...you'll find most of these items there with video...most will probably also have discussions.

Good God, my spreadsheet is going to be huge, about 10 more fields and elevendy million rows.
This is not a big issue to me, as i need/want as much info as i can get for my purchasing options, and i still intend to make it available to those that want it, but wow, it's going to take a few nights to pull it all together.
This WAS exactly what i was looking for - it's hard to make informed choices wandering around 8-10 "superstores" over a weekend, now i will have a MUCH better idea of what to look for, prices, etc.
You need to go and buy Bob Weaver's "Fireworks A to Z" for 2007.
http://www.fireworksland.com/
http://www.fireworksland.com/store/c...Z+Buyers+Guide
You can search it for the word "blue" or "purple" and you will find many items. Bob's book is the "bible" for fireworks show planners.

Agree with Joe - get Bob's guide.....it will have all the work done for you....what you dont find there, then you check P-Review or here
WPA.
APWC.
Listen to them. Children of the night.
What music they make.
Kinda low on cash right now, but i agree that it looks like a great resource. For now i have some 350 items tagged from R-Review that im building up my database with. I did a number of searches, tagged a bunch of stuff, then as i went along adding things tagged more stuff.
I have the structure mostly fleshed out but still need to see what else i will be adding for field and where i want them.
Don't even get me started about how much i hate MS Excel - i developed a number of extremely complex spreadsheets on Quattro Pro (wastewater treatment plant operations and reporting systems), but it's not availble for OS X. Before o go much further im gonna suck what i have (about 75 products) into Open Office and see if that is more usable. Some of the issues with how Excel works (well, more like doesn't work) drives me insane.
Anyway, when im done i will have a very nice spreadsheet based database that i can keep track of what i like, dislike, cost's, links to web content, re-wraps, etc. When i get back to work i will likely get "The Bible" as well and add stuff i find usefull from that to it.
This is what happens when you turn an OCD geek loose with a new hobby.... I dunno though, seems like a good idea to be able to track what i like best and how to get it at the lowest cost. Besides, with links to web content i can also see what My Love likes best and cater to her as well. She deserves it for taking care of me so well, and besides, what guy doesn't like to make is lady say "OOOOoowwww"?
One of my favorite quiet cakes I have had is Spectacular Colors by Glorious. Instead of looking for quiet cakes maybe you should find a place to shoot some louder cakes. Not trying to razz you, I just like some pop with my colors sometimes. I do keep some World Class Secret Weapon candles around for when I need a pyro fix at two in the morning. They are very quiet.![]()

I intend to, but sill like to shoot off stuff where it needs to be quiet. Most of the stuff i have tagged is not quiet, but i will also make sure that i add the stuff you mentioned.
Cool, ill download the free one, but for the time being i would rather, um, do my own evaluations...
OK, so i spent *WAY* to much time on PyroReview, and now have o database of some 400 items that i may be interested in. Mostly fountains from small to 500 gm and Roman Candles.
I have not bothered with much of the aerel stuff, rockets, missiles, and crackers because of noise issues, but i expect that in time i will be adding things.
If anyone is interested i can export the spreadsheet parts i am going to make public (i also have areas for prices at various places, personal notes, etc) and post it to the gallery.
A few good quiet fountains I can think of All Glorious brand, Silver fizz- 500 gram fan, Vivid colors- very aptly named, and Rosey cheeks. Also Shogun Super 8 rockets are rather quiet except for the crackling one.
Cannon's 48 shot color pearls (no reports) are very quiet. It shoots a red and green pearl simulataneously. This repeats every second for 24 seconds.
