First Neighborhood Noise!

I'm on a business trip here in Albany, NY and as I look out of my 5th story hotel room window, I see a lot of vibrant colors lighting up the sky! I thought this was very unusual for a Wednesday evening and the fact that I'm in NY witnessing this?!

Imagine a scenario like this...

You get home from work, the weather is prime, you start up the grill on your deck, the suns going down and right out in the
open a few blocks over you look up and someone will be shooting off a 25s TK. It's not even dark out and your loving every
flash that booms, while thinking, ok, now I have to come back with something. LOL

The funny thing is that while your scrambling around for something, someone else already came back with a salute shell
that rocks the neighborhood. LOL

wow, sounds like Flordia doesnt mess around all summer! never lived anywhere quite like that. We are new to the Chicago area so trying to get a feel for what to expect here this summer.

Where at in Chicago? The city or suburbs? Either way what to expect.....a damn war zone as the media likes to call it. Booming every night from Fathers Day til around my birthday on July 9th. We are surrounded by states that sell fireworks and very close to the fireworks mecca...Indiana. There will be very few quiet nights my friend. You would not know that they are actually banned in most communities. Welcome to Chicago.

It depends where in ChicagoLand you live. Some western suburbs have up to a $500 dollar fine. I used to shoot on the 4th if I wanted too and nothing happened. Not sure anymore though. Any other day and forgetaboutit.

We are in the elmhurst/villa park/lombard area right now. I am going to start asking some of the nieghbors what i should expect, then maybe ease into the prospect of a small show. Everyone has been so great to us since moving here i don't wanna be that guy!

Yesterday as I was laying in bed trying to sleep, the noise of fireworks brought me back from the brink of unconsciousness. Usually, being woken up is annoying; but instead, I started smiling and almost laughed out loud. Fireworks! Needless to say, I found it hard to fall back to sleep with fireworks swimming through my mind.

And then today I heard people talking about how this guy asked his girl to prom yesterday using fireworks... Hmmm

The story ends with her saying no, but still... Fireworks!
It seems she didn't like fireworks. Oh well. Her loss.

I took a 200gram cake to a small family bbq and listened to the area but it was silent. I wanted to set it off but i had no takers who wanted to start a pre show war. So i kept my kool and waited for another day...

Heard several things being set off last night over the hill. Everytime I heard something go off I wanted to run out shoot some of my big stuff just to show them how to do it. But, I resisted the urge. Was home alone. Wife working and all the kids were away. No fun without someone there to enjoy it with me. My time is coming though. tick tock tick tock.

Surprisingly quiet in my neighborhood. I did hear a pack of firecrackers (perhaps 50 count) go off on two separate nights but that's it. No aerials, booms or anything... yet.

I found several of those single tube, cheap fountains leftover from last year and, after picking up my fuse order from Eric at PyroBoom, I of course had to do some testing. Ah and I did stop by the Rozzi firework store to pick up a couple of their homemade Starburst tubes as well...the no. 5 gold comets. Great single shot tubes with the best comets you'll find. Beautiful color, height, and hang-time before burning out. My fix has been satisfied...for now...

Yesterday night there were a few shells that I heard in Chicago. Nothing much, though.

On the other hand, this weekend we went camping in Wisconsin. As soon as the sun went down, you could see three separate spots where numerous cakes were being shot. My Roman candles and bottle rockets obviously were nothing, but it was fun to see something more than firecrackers and zippers for a change.

There's been a ton of stuff going off here by me in Michigan. Not too surprising since they just legalized them though.

Michigan here too...near Detroit. Been kinda quiet but seems like once I shoot some things off others follow. Might just be with it dark enough for me I started round 9pm. Earlier than everyone. Still good to hear I am not the only one. Maybe with more and more stores popping up around here it will get louder soon :-)

Now that Omaha allows fireworks between June 25 and July 4,
most people wait until it's legal, so the noise doesn't start until June 25.

Not me my huge show is always on the 4th no exceptions .... I prob only shoot 1/20th of my stash in the few weeks leading up to the 4th good old wholesale... got about 60 cases feels like il never run out LOL
