Interesting juxtaposition. I think cartoon and the previous cartoon appeared on the same day. Diberts statement about "Kill me with a comet", was the problem the dinosaurs were having.

Yes, the Hagar cartoon was one of comics that I editted to give it a more fireworks emphasis as I do for a number of the cartoons in this thread. I don't remember what the original punch line was, but I changed it and added the cases of fireworks.

When I saw this comic, I immediately thought of fireworks firing system and not plant watering systems.
The girl has a "wireless" watering system. The boy has a "wired" watering system.
What side of the wireless versus wired e-firing issue are you on?

I wish I could find this somehow:

Opus (Bloom County I think) and that crazy cat were trying to buy a firecracker to celebrate July 4th, but kept getting stymied by shop owners informing Opus that "Firecrackers are illegal"

In frustration, he demands that the cat go back into the store and "Get something LEGAL that POPS!"

Cat comes back out with an assault rifle.

The point of the comic was obviously to deride the idea of assault weapons being easier to get than firecrackers (I imagine the artist was either NY or Cali. Based).

To me, it just shows the silliness of firecrackers being so HARD to get in many places.
