For those of you who cover your fuse. Maybe using foil, tape ect. Do you notice a faster burn time on the fuse since it is covered over if you did not cover it at all?
I have heard that paper fuse will burn faster covered, but paper fuse is already fast, and leaving it uncovered lets it soak up moisture, which will definitely slow it down. As for visco, as russell said, tape isn't going to do anything.
Depends on the fuse. Regular green coated visco burns fairly consistant, covered or not. I've also used the uncoated "faster" yellow visco fuse - covering it definitely increases the speed. For the fast paper fuse, covering it turns it pretty darned close to quickmatch - it's burn really quick until it hits the covered section, then it's gone in a flash. Literally.
I just ordered 700 feet of different style/speed fuses and will be doing some testing when it comes in using aluminum tape to see what effect it has on timing. Going to start a thread when the results are in!
The slower fuse covered with tape tends to be unchanger in time if it's loose or tight on the fuse. Fast fuse with the tape put on tight seems unchanged. Fast fuse with the tape put on loose with air pockets will speed up. Hot gasses pushing fire down the tape?
