This is my largest display yet, I had over 50 hours of setting this display up.
The fireworks are all 1.4g, bought from a display stand. Its about $150. worth.
The images are of version 1, version 2 just had some wood pulled off, and 30inch extenstions on the very top, to hold some fuse up, for the 4 extra roman candles, I tossed on there at the last moment. I went stupid and didn't get any pictures of it, except for whats in the video.
I have on it...
4 -- 300 shot saturn missiles
20 -- 4 types of Roman Candles
16 -- 4 types of fountains
4 -- 500 strand of world class firecrackers
8 -- dynamites
20 -- smoke bombs (white and colored)
20 -- strobe lights
12 -- cracking bombs
200+ foot of the quick fuse, burns 20 foot in 12 secs
The entire display was ignited, in about 120 secs, and took 3:29 secs, from the second the fuse was ignited to the last fountain, to finish.
I have a video of but its 389mb in size, or i would upload it to youtube, anyways, I'll upload it to my webspace I have, and give a link back to it later on!
I learned a lesson about setting up displays this year, too many fountains creates alot of smoke which covers up the display, too many firecrackers is too much noise, not enough aerials is boring. But the Saturn Missiles were cool!

50 hours?
forget the hours, he's shooting a 500g thru the middle of a bunch of 2x4's with mini shelves on them. and you know those bottom saturn missles are going to bounce off of the stuff hanging above.

Like saturn missles don't go everywhere anyway?
But seriously, I only see saturn missles on the top shelf (which would be ok).
That 500g should have plenty of space from the shelf above too (provided they shoot straight up). It would have to be damn windy for the 500g to hit the shelves above.

salute you missed the point, he add extra safety issuses to his display with the way he set it up

I know its not the best way to do a setup, but it was my first large one with a 500g, theres 4 saturn missiles on the setup, two on the top shelf and 2 on each side of the 500g.
It went off good, nothing blew up, caught fire, etc, except for the fireworks, nothing really went wrong, had a fuse light prematurely, the 500g went off perfectly between the 2x4's and the 1x2's, the only thing that hit one of the top shelves were 2 rows of saturn missiles, but like salute said, they go everywhere anyways.
Plus its been raining like crazy in north texas, almost every stinking day for about 2-2-1/2 months or so! :brick:
Next year, I'm doing a bigger better one, using mortar tubes and racks, no shelves, nothing hanging. (I'll ask about getting help on some setup/layout idea's later, and help with building a nice firing system.) This will be a later post, after I work on the schematics for the wiring and everything!
I've been reading up on the safety of handling fireworks, how to fuse fireworks properly , electronic ignition systems, and other stuff.
50 hours of work, due to having to wait for the liquid nail to dry, having some problems with running the fuses, hooking the fuses up, drilling holes for the roman candles, and other little problems! That also includes the 3 hours of choosing out what I wanted to use, and planning the layout of where the stuff was going to go.

I'm working on getting them uploaded, its 8 clips, the size of the full video is 389mb, I had to clip it to get them to upload, my connection always drops out for some stupid reason, all we can get in my town is wireless, and its good, but like it said the connection drops sometimes.
EDIT: changed file size to correct file size, from 4389mb to 389mb. wow, thats a large video size!!! LOL :brick:

Anyone know of a good ftp program, that can resume a failed upload?
I'm having problems with keeping connections right now. My isp has been to my house 6 times and changed stuff, and it still keeps dropping the connection.
If I can get that I can get the video clips uploaded
thanks in advance.

Now that is something you see back on the olden days like 1800`s when pyrotechnics were still experimental where they are placed on scaffoldings. I like the creativity of it, good way to keep control of your pyro in one small area.:D

Wow, its been awhile since I've been on. I've been busy working on my car for the last couple of months!
Anyways, just wanted to update my display with my video. I have to break it up into 5 clips, so I could upload it easier!
Each video is about 50mb in size, they are stored on my webspace. Just right click "save target as" and download them!
another update, for my next year display, I decided that I'm not going to make the 120 cue firing system, but a 20 cue firing system, and build/use...
10 mortar racks with 20 shots per rack, that gives me 10 cues
25 500g cakes, 5 cakes per cue, that gives me 5 cues
9 rocket racks, 9 racks with 10 rockets each, 90 rockets total, that gives me 3 cues
4 roman candle racks, 10 candles per rack, 40 candles total, that gives me 1 cue
5 500g 3" Repeaters, 5 repeaters total, that gives me 1 cue
20 cues total!

Would you like me to make those files smaller? For the convenience of my fellow pyros I would be happy to.

sorry about the file size, I'll make them smaller!
I really don't like either M.U. or R.S.
the file size isn't the problem, my internet connection drops, so it takes a long time to upload!

sorry about the file size, I'll make them smaller! As much as I dislike Micro$oft, if you can convert them to wmv format, that'll cut down on file size dramatically.
Nice job. I liked elevating the items. I didn't notice if you had any fountains on the top rails or not, that would be a nice way to display them. If I might make two other suggestions for next year:
- Use more than one base for firing, spread the show out over a little more of the sky.
- Move back a smidge further from ground zero before lounging on the grass and enjoying your handiwork. ;)

Thank you for resizing the video, I'm not to fimialuar with video editting.
The guy thats on the ground, wasn't me, he's a friend of the family, that wouldn't move, so we left him there. Basically he was drunk, and was being stupid. I was about 50 ft from the display, I know that if something went wrong, it was going to be a gigantic fireball.
No fountains on the top rail, use on the bottom board.
Next year, I'm going big...
I'm making my own mortar racks. I'll make 20 racks, of various shapes, all racks will have either 10 or 20 tubes.
I'm going to have 200 mortars. (I'm going to order 10 cases of the fiberglass tubes from here!)
25 500g Cakes
6 rocket racks - 10 rockets per rack
4 roman candle racks, 10 candles per rack
5 500g 3" Repeaters
10 300 shot saturn missles
This is what I have wrote down, its not neccessiarly what I'm doing but, it will be close!
I'm also looking at other rack designs in the DIY section, so I may add and remove stuff, you know how it is!
I'm working on a 20 cue firing system now, thats in my 120 cue firing system thread. should I make another thread for my 20 cue system or not?

i think it rocks.... again reminds me of things i DID when i was younger and those are the best days..... again if your crowd liked it then it was a success and nothing else should matter. now that you are here reading more i am sure next years video will be different.
lol i am still laughing at remembering some of the things we did 8o8o8o
my first mortar rack was my lawnmowers trailer 4x4, full of florida sand and i crammed a bunch of single mortars in the sand and they were about 50% covered. the trailer damn near took 4 of us to move it with so much sand. it was great. but we never did that again.

Nice job X5...loved the saturn missles.
Even when you start doing bigger displays, you should hang onto that structure and maybe find a way to incorporate it into your shows. It could be your own unique signature piece of equipment.
