Angled Cake Boards

Hi Guys

I searched the forums and could not find the info I was looking for so I am asking all of you.

I am making several angled cake boards and I wanted to know what everyone uses for the boards beneath the cakes? 1"x(X)" boards or (.5 or .75") plywood?

My boards will span a max distance of 3' on the larger setups and only 1.5' on the smaller ones.

We used 1X boards so we wouldn't have to rip a bunch of plywood or worry about them warping as bad if they got wet from rain or dew.
