I haven't called any of those listed I bought my hdpe pipe and made my own plugs.I would say Pyrogear from what i read on the old board! But let me say this and it's not a knock on anyone, "You get what you pay for".

I bought from pyrogear.net they were the cheapest I found, but I want to find a place that sells for a dollar a foot.

I think on the East Coast, you will find that -- including shipping costs -- PyroGear.net has the best prices for plugged mortars. PyroUniverse mortars (fiberglass with clay plugs) ship from Washington state, so they would be the more affordable option for West Coast pyros. There's another vendor out West who doesn't seem to be listed.

There was a "price war" this year with several tube vendors cutting prices, so it really comes down to shipping costs, if you're just buying tubes. Pre-built racks are another question.

Getting 20-ft. lengths of HDPE tube at 62 cents a foot would be cool, but of course you have to figure things like shipping and storage (where you going to keep 20-ft-long pipes?). Then there is the hassle of cutting the tubes and pounding in plugs. My personal opinion, that's a long run for a short slide when, including shipping costs, you can get 100 plugged tubes for under $200. I guess if you were going to build racks for 300+ tubes, or you were going to produce racks for sale, then the extra savings of buying HDPE in bulk would be attractive. But if you're just building an ordinary quantity of racks, the hassle-vs.-saving factor would seem to favor buying the plugged tubes.

The plugs are the easy part for me, my brother runs a lathe all day, and they are kind enough to let him use it after work. He already turned me some plugs for 4, 5, and 6" I just have to cut them to length.

The HDPE is another story. I need :

8" 5 Mortars (20')
6" 45 Mortars (140')
5" 90 Mortars (240')
4" 108 Mortars (220')

I am just not sure which pipe to go with on these sites .....

Performance Pipe
J-M Manufacturing Co.

both of these are in my area from what soonerkid's links say. Before I call them, I would like to know the minimum dr , and what the pipe is called on these websites :/
Especially Performance Pipe, it has several different names for it's pipe.

Could it be PE 3408 HDPE ??

Could it be PE 3408 HDPE ??

Yes thats what my pipe says on the side!!
I thought isco-pipe sold performance pipe's stock but i went and looked and i think they sell J-M's because of the markings on the pipe.

Funny in Pryor oklahoma they have a performance pipe plant right next to isco-pipe.hmmmmmmm?

As far as the "DR" numbers for pipe for display shells heres a discussion on the old board.

Talk about rediculous !!!
After waiting for the 3 distributors in my area to get back to me with prices, this was the cheapest I could find.

8" $15 per ft min. of 50ft
6" $10 per ft
5" Cannot get anymore
4" $7 per ft

They say the recent hurricane is causing shortage of the raw material used in HDPE, and the manufacturer told them it couyld be several years before these prices receed. Hmmmm seems like I have heard this before (fuel, lumber, etc).

Screw it, I'll be using fiberglass if I can get a decent price on those.
