Hi all,
I just want to say the reason for me not getting the extra new yorker assortments was because I made 2 trips. Money allowed for two trips of $300 each. I got my VIP card but no New yorker assortments. I did email them about this policy though. Actually I phoned them before the second trip and they told me I would not be eligable for the new yorker bonus because that would be based on one order of $600 rather than 2 orders of $300. As I said, I emailed them about it so ill wait for a response.

Why is the height on fountains not very high. I noticed even on the 500 gram ones that the hieght is not there. Wouldn't it be great to get a fountain to go up about 30 feet. Does the volcanic eruption cone go very high from phantom???

I saw on a thread that someone traded in their new yoorker freebies for warbirds??? Can this be done? I wish I could get rid of my 3 rocket bags!!!!
What kind of credit do they give you for trading in freebies???
Thanks
Jared

Yes, they will usually let you switch freebies for items of the same value. Most stores will even allow you to exchange your "free" BOGO items for other items of the same price. In other words, if you buy a tube at BOGO, they will usually let you switch the second tube you get "free" for, say, a mortar kit if it's the same price. I doubt they will let you do any of this once you leave the store though.

Just keep in mind that your mileage may vary... the Breezewood PA store used to be pretty cool about letting you swap out your freebies for other items of equal value, but this year the manager (Judy, I think) gave me a firm "no" on dumping the stupid rocket bag in favor of something worth having.

I even offered to take a slightly less expensive item (the rocket bag is $40 IIRC), I would've taken a 19 shot repeater ($30 without BOGO), but she wouldn't budge.

Which is really too bad, I guess they don't want me shopping in their store anymore, which is just fine by me, I've been considering switching to Spectacular anyway, and if I want something from Phantom, I'll just hit up the Youngstown OH store when I go visit relatives out that way, they had much better coupons last time I checked anyway. I think their spend $250+ was an aerial barrage assortment instead of the rocket bag, though I can't be sure as those coupons are no longer up.

They did let me mix and match the BOGO, but the limit was $30 and over. I don't buy tubes, so I don't know if they would've made an exception for those or not.

Come to the North Lima store. You're allowed to switch out anything for your freebies. Trust me on this one. Don't go to the Youngstown store that is in downtown. Come to "Boardman". The Boardman showroom isnt the lead showroom for nothing.

i think the imposed limit on safe and sane fireworks is 6ft...i'd imagine thats why there are no fountains larger...also, a fountain 30ft tall going by the 500gram limit would last for a few seconds...

I will keep that in mind the next time I'm in Ohio. Thanks for the heads up!

Phantom wants all of their fountains to be Cailifornia legal, so it can get the CA S&S seal of approval. This means, nothing over 10' and a spread or width of no more than 6' radius. The CA fire marshal actually has a test where they put items inside a 12' diameter circle with paper hanging down at 10'. If sparks go out of the circle or burn the paper, it does not pass.

There are non-Phantom fountains that exceed these limits. If you search this forum you will find a number of recommendations. But I will mention a few, even though this is a Phantom section.

My favorite was the Glorious Superb. It went over 10' and would spray out 8' if it was on a raised platform. It lasted 103 seconds. Though, I haven't seen it around here for awhile.

One of my new favorites is St. Maarten's Mahem (PyroKing), it last 2:10 (Yes, thats right 130 seconds) and it reaches heights of over 13'. This is one very big fountain.

South Beach Slammer (PyroKing) lasts 60 seconds and is even bigger and taller than St. Maarten's Mahem.

True cones can reach good heights if they have enough composition. Some of Phantoms cones are just single tube fountains in a cone shaped container. A true cone always gradually rises in height. It reaches its highest point and then ends. Some of my favorites (all non-Phantom), are Silvery (Red Lanetern, 32 sec, 15'), Silver Laser cone (Red Rhino, Forward, 30+ sec, 15', crackle) and Wizard's Hat (Brothers, 43 sec, 13', blue flame with silver spray).

One interesting trick to make fountains look taller is to place them on a raised platform so they are closer to eye level. I use saw horses with boards (2.5'). You can use a metal garbage can with a heavy board on it. Or flip the cover over on the can and use that.

Another trick is to line up a bunch of cones in a line and fuse them together. The close proximity to each other makes them go a few feet higher.
