St Louis Shoot DVD

Guys We are working on the DVD for the St louis Shoot.
As you know from a post I posted earlier on the thread, there has been expressed interest in a professional DVD that the 1.3 companies could use for advertising and an impressive DVD for the rest of us.

We have a professional videographer who shoots fireworks at some of the major events who has agreed to shoot the St Louis Shoot.
Nearly all the fee has been covered.
You are aware that insurance is gonna be pricey and we will need more funds than we raised last year, so......
We will be selling the DVD. MY question is
How many of you would pay $15.00 to support the insurance and cleanup funds for the St louis Shoot?

DVD will cost us roughly 3.00 per with shipping on top so, I figure about 5.00 per unit with $5.00 or 10.00 for fundraisng. We must sell 100 for this rate.

Before giving up, tell us what the price needs to be with the number of orders rec'd. Is it $20? $30? more? I'd be willing to pay more in order to get a decent CD of this year's show. I still wish I had been able to get one from last year. Not every one is a cheapskate. If you like we can do this thru PMs.

Well folks were were over $700.00 from breaking even. I had $900.00 pledged including 250.00 from 3 individuals, With only 40+ videos signed up and nearly 80 more needed, it was just too much of a stretch.

Truthfully, I anticipated some people wanting to sponsor this video and didn't pitch the idea well. I didn't take into account the economy has put a whooping on a lot of people. The belief is that there is a finite amount of resources for this shoot. If people step up here, it may well take away from the money needed to pay for this shoot. That is so not fair to the St Louis Team who has labored long hours to make this happen for us.

To let you know about the bid. This was to be a 2 camera shoot and would end up being a 2 DVD package. The gentleman who bid it was nearly 40% cheaper than any one else we found and had years of experience videoing fireworks. This is a great fit.
I am telling you this because I believe this is still a great idea. We just need a creative way to find the money to do this, next year.

Speedy I am sorry for your experience. We should support our own better.

Looks to me the future of these shoots may be dependent on tuition or dues to participate other than gate admission which goes to the park.

These fees would help cover cost like this and insurance, trash disposal. All the normal cost that are need for shoot this size.

Spoke With Eldon yesterday and today. After he reviewed and edited the first 24 minutes he thought it would be pretty good despite the fog.

We hope to have a rough look at it yet this week. Will keep you advised.

Good News. We have a rough copy of the video. Tomorrow I will talk with Eldon and have him start the final editing and duplicating process.
1. Many of you who signed up ahead of the shoot didn't find me at St Louis. Please send PAYPAL to the email below
2. If you have paypal'd please confirm via e-mail your mailing address if you are not sure I have it.

3. For those of you who signed the Sign up sheet at St Louis--- I have you covered. Almost all of the PayPal had shipping addresses attached so we are good there.

4. If you have not signed up and want a DVD please paypal 15.00 to me. Please include your screen name and mailing address. When I receive the DVD's I will mail as fast as possible.
If you paypal'd more and we meet the expenses, I will start refunding people. I hope that can start happening this week.

Got mine Monday. Got my chance to re-live the whole thing yesterday on my 60" HDTV. Just like being there. Somehow it even filled my living room all up with smofog. :confused: Then I remembered I forgot to set the timer on the pizza in the oven. :eek:

Guys ---- all but 6 DVD's went out on the 9th. If I did not have an address before then it went out on the 14th.

For those of you who I didn't nag after the 9th, let me know Monday or Tuesday if you did not receive.
These went out parcel so they didn't get the best delivery time. However there may be some issues if it takes two weeks to get them.

dale when i received mine it was raining and when i grabbed it out the box my hand was a little damp and the ink started to smear so you may have a few that the ink rubbed off. just a heads up

Got my video yeaterday, the kids and I have watched it a few times. If it hadn't been for the miserable weather and moister, the production would have been great. The first few shows were nice and sharp and looked fasicinating on my plasma. Unfortunatly by the middle the smoke had began to subdue everything and the lens of the camera seemed to be constantly fogging up. Still all in all it was a great video and hopefully we can procure the same person next to shoot a nicer, and hopefully less smoke filled show. Thanks for all involved in getting this video done, it was worth way more than the $15 I paid for it. Here's to next year!
