You may all ignore this if you choose.
I have not seen or heard the objections in full .
That in its self has frustrated me personally, as I stated on the permit application that if official had concerns to please contact me.
I put that in the application to avoid Possible problems .

Being that we who attend do so in large part to share safety info and technics , I am personally insulted that the reason given for the hold up is
"public safety hazard" .
Had a safety concern been brought to our attention I am quite sure we could have came to some type of agreement

I would encourage you to put the bitterness behind you and come up with a solution for next year. I'm pretty sure Muskogee would welcome us back next year but the drive is simply to far for most of us northerners. Pittsburg was borderline. Two and a half hours takes it over the edge. I'm here but am not looking forward to the drive home. I'm anticipating it will take 15 to 16 hours to get home.

If traffic was the issue last year, maybe the city can come up with a different location? If something else then lets start calling the little towns surrounding Pittsburg and see if any of them will welcome us next year.

I agree with Stunt's thoughts on this. I am sure we will have a great time in Muskogee but I am not looking forward to the 11 hour drive on Sunday and having to work on Monday. I am sure there will be multiple towns that would love to have a free high dollar show for their town.

Hey all, just my 2 cents on this deal.

"The Wife" and I planned on making this trip and were looking forward to it but with the added travel we had to back out because I have to work Sunday evening.

The extra miles is not a big deal to some people but for us in the upper midwest it became an issue. (extra 2.5 to 3.0 hrs)

I would really to see TOTP back to Pittsburg or somewhere close to the middle of the states where all of us northerners and all of the southerners could get together. I know I missed St. Louis (Had a freakin wedding) and that is an acceptable distance also.

Next year it will be on our calander again and with any luck we will be there.

I'm sure we can come up with something that works for everyone!!!

short summery
its seems the traffic issues involve the location and people parking along69 highway . Which presented problems for fo the Pittsburg police Dept and the crawford county sheriffs dept. Being that safety of everyone is a concern to us all, I fully understand the objection.
As was pointed out in the meeting had these concerns been brought to our attention , We could have came to a compromise with out the anonymousity and everyone getting upset. This came from problems with the permit applications , lack of understanding of fireworks laws, regulations, and terminology.
I do believe that this issue has brought many many issues to he fore front and look forward to taking an active part in working with the county to resolve issues .
I would actually like to thank the county officials and both the crawford county sheriffs Dept and Pittsbug Police dept for there willingness to work with us in the future

Id like to welcome a new pyro U member as well and thank them for attending the meeting and lending moral support .
jpars I look forwad to your input .

Don,

If there is so much traffic maybe it is time to sell tickets. Make TOTP a benefit shoot for some worthy charity. Who the hell would get in your way then.

Thats actually not a bad idea .
one thing I do believe we really need is something for the kids to do while the grown ups are setting up .
It wasnt mentioned in the thread but we had a inflatable moonwalk coming before the permit snaffu .
My personal goal from the start has been to make this a family friendly event where we can share set up and safety info as well as enjoy some fantastic fireworks. That is what is important to me .
I couldnt care less if a town or area benifits , that may sound selfish but its the truth . I know Im a LWNJ :P But the people are what make this special all the rest is just gravy .

Doubling with a charity event did wonders for the St Louis shoot, I would recommend it anyone, and there's plenty of charities out there needing help. The gate fee this year was $1.00, many people gave $5.00 - $20.00 without prodding after seeing the show. I have a Sister with M.S. and it was my original intention to raise money for them, just so happened the shoot site I went after had an existing fundraiser...at the same time we were wanting to shoot.
