I've been shooting fireworks for many years now, I think since I was 10 years old, I would have smoke bombs and have fun with that. One of the saddest days of the year for me was July 5th. I don't know what it is, and now that I'm older and have more to artillery than a smoke bomb, things haven't changed. This July 5th, I moped around all day after picking up my spent fireworks, looking at the cakes that went off, smelling my tubes for that eau de sulfur aroma, and then afterwards I was down. I shot some excals that night, but it just wasn't the same. I guess some of it has to do with all the preparation we go through, we hype ourselves and then when it's over, it's over.....I've been in such a funk the past few days. I can't wait until next year, I just have to rebuild my financial reserves back up.
I just wanted to see if any of you out there felt the same way?

Moved on to task at hand after my 4th shoot that actually went off on the 5th. Some notes on the books, reviewed video and now I can concentrate on PGI trip, competition, and seminars. After that it will be a local club group shoot in September hopefully. I have not committed to TOTP yet, but the option is there if I am not broke or out of vacation by the time it comes around. Fireworks are NOT JUST FOR THE 4th OF JULY!

MHG1980, I whole heartedly agree with you on the post 4th blues. I know people say that fireworks are not just for the 4th, but there is a sentimental value attached to the 4th that no other day can bring. It's almost like the summer starts to wind down after the 4th. Spiral notebooks and pencils line the aisles in the supermarkets that once held sparklers, fountains, and red/white/blue napkins and plates. The 4th is an all day thing and nobody looks at you crooked for popping off from 10am to midnight. For me there is no other day. I shot off a few cakes on the 3rd but on the 4th I let loose, and on the 5th I saddly pack up all the leftovers and put them back in storage. Most of my pyro buddies know I'm kinda crazy when it comes to fireworks but I rarely even test items before the day. I feel like it's Christmas morning when I light the fuse and find out what everything does. I'm usually pleasantly surprised because my coveted sources always guide me in the right direction.

Lets see here.
Labor day weekend: stuck working MDA telethon.
NYE: at work until midnight.
Not everyone has the opportunity to cut loose on these days like some of you guys. So for those of us that can't, yep, its a sad time.

Oh yeah, I know the feeling. My least favorite day of the year is the fifth, as it starts the longest part of the year for me.
I am not as excited about shooting on labor day or New Years Eve, the 4th of July is the center of my pyro universe.
This years blues are amplified 100 fold I will not spam the board with the post on the incident I had, it is listed in the 4th of July reflections thread.
I do however know know you feel, ordinary years I am in a funk for two or three days after....and get that feeling in the pit of my stomach every time I pass my favorite fireworks stores, gotta wait a whole nother year to have that much fun again.
