Please feel free to send me your comments or suggestions for this site, or notify me of any dead links, images, or horrible misspellings.  I'm more than happy to answer any fireworks related questions you have, or questions about the construction projects on this site.  Because of the sheer volume of email I receive, I'd like to address a couple of things, first...

If you have a question about either fireworks or the site itself, read my FAQ section first to see if it's answered there.

I do not import or sell fireworks, chemicals, books, or fuse.  Please don't ask.

Before emailing me with a "how to" type question, such as "how to do you make fuse?", please first make sure that the information is not on my website.  I get lots of emails from people asking for information that they didn't bother to notice was already on the page.

Don't ask me how to build bombs, M-80s, or other "powerful fireworks".  I will ignore such emails. Making such devices is not only a federal offense, but it's extremely dangerous.  Flash powder is a  sensitive mixture that can be set off by static electricity!  I've seen disgusting, vomit-inducing images of people's hands/legs/faces that have been blasted apart into a bloody mess from trying to build homemade bombs.

Don't attempt to convince me how dangerous you think fireworks are, or complain about how much they scare your parrots or cats.

Don't ask me how to build firecrackers/smoke bombs/etc, or ask me for certain formulas.  If you're genuinely interested in learning the proper techniques behind the manufacture of fireworks, please make use of the dozens of books out there about making fireworks, some of which you can find here.

Don't ask me for links to other websites about a specific type of firework/project/effect.  Check my link page.

Please do not ask me for "last minute tips/advice" for your show.  That's what this entire site is about.

Lastly, do not pester me about updating the site.  I am a full-time chemistry undergraduate student, and I maintain this as a hobby - that is, in my spare time.  I publish everything here for free, for the entire world to enjoy.  I do not have the time to sit down and spend hours/days putting  together an entire page just because you have a school project due next week.

Other than that, don't hesitate to drop me a line!  Don't worry, I won't bite your head off.  Most of the emails I get have to do with the things listed above, so I just wanted to mention them specifically.

I try to respond to every message as soon as possible, usually within a week.  If you send me a message and I do not respond, please do not be mad or offended.  Chances are that I never even saw the message, or I lost track of it.  Pyro Universe is a popular site, and I receive lots of email - often more than I can answer (especially in the spring and summer!).  Remember, too, that I get TONS of junk mail - my email address has been listed all over this site for several years, and as a result, it's found its way onto just about every spam mailing list in existence.  Because of that, I've had to set up strict spam filters that delete any messages that "look" like junk mail.  If I don't answer within a week, feel free to re-send the email.

Please be absolutely sure that the email address you enter is correct, otherwise I will have no way of getting back to you.  Remember, it is YOUR responsibility to make sure that your inbox isn't full, and to make sure that the address colin@pyrouniverse.com is on your whitelist (ie, not blocked by the anti-spam software your email domain may have).  If my response to you bounces back to me because your inbox is full or your server's anti-spam software flagged it, I will not attempt to re-send it later.  I also will not click any confirmation links sent out by your email server to "prove" my email is not spam.

ATTACHMENTS: Please do not send me any attachments (pictures, videos) larger than 5 MB, total (that doesn't mean send me twenty 5 MB files).  It fills up the mailbox on my server and screws up my mail program.  If you're going to send me more than 5 MB worth of stuff, please email me first and ask.  If you want to have your pictures/videos posted on the site, just sign up for a free forum account and post whatever you want on the gallery.
